Lung Cleansing Exercise
*The purpose of this exercise is to exhale the old, stagnant air within our lungs as a result of not breathing deeply enough. The goal is maximum inhalation and exhalation to really clear out the lungs.
Sit on the floor or in a chair. Make sure back is straight.
Breathe in deeply, making sure to use your diaphram
Bend forward at the waist and exhale ALL your air out forcefully. Push as much air out as possible
Hold your breath out and come back to an upright position while extending your arms straight up over your head
With arms still extended, look up and breathe in.
Repeat 2-3 more times. Do this complete exercise 3 times daily if possible.
Passive Svara Yoga
*Purpose is to relax
Slowly turn your head from left to right. Your body will naturally and passively inhale and exhale. Do NOT breathe in actively. Let the air come in and out through the physiologic nature of the motion. Do this slowly and let your body relax.
Active Svara Yoga
*Purpose is to activate and balance the hemispheres of your brain, calm your central nervous system, and relieve stress.
Block the right nostril and breathe in through the left. Block the left and breathe out the right. Breathe back in through the right while blocking the left, and then breathe out through the left.
Repeat this three times. Inhale/Exhale through both as a cleansing breath.
Now reverse this order by Blocking the left nostril and breathe in through the right and out through the left, in through the left, and out through the right.
Repeat this three times. Inhale/Exhale through both as a cleansing breath.
Repeat steps 1-4 (3)times.
